RECREATION ADVENTURES (RAD) PROGRAM

Program Information

Cosumnes CSD provides adaptive and inclusive recreation opportunities with the Recreation ADventures (RAD) program. This program provides classes, events and accommodations for people with disabilities through both adaptive and inclusive recreation programs. 

Participants are encouraged to explore programs in a safe and fun environment while learning a new skill, improving their physical fitness, and making new friends along the way. 

INCLUSION SERVICES

Cosumnes CSD encourages and supports the participation of individuals with disabilities in all of our programs. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Cosumnes CSD wants to ensure that all individuals have access to our programs. 

If you or a family member needs reasonable accommodations to participate, please follow the steps below. Reasonable accommodations will be determined on an individual basis. Each participant will be assessed by our Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and modifications will be made when needed.

Steps to Request Inclusion Services

  1. Read the Inclusion Services FAQ’s.
  2. Register for the recreation program of your choice.
  3. Complete the Accommodation Request Form to request adaptive and inclusion services.

ALTA Regional Vendorization & Referral Information

We are pleased to announce that Cosumnes Community Services District (CSD) is now a vendor with Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) for select programs within the Recreation ADventures (RAD) program and other Cosumnes CSD programs.

This allows individuals receiving services from ACRC to access our adaptive and inclusive recreation programs through the regional center's funding.

  1. Review list of approved programs ALTA will cover: Cosumnes CSD Classes Approved By ALTA
  2. Once you know what programs ALTA will cover, search for programs in our Activity Guide or Online Registration to view and select the exact activity that you interested in. 
  3. Take note of the activity name & activity number. 
  4. Download the Cosumnes Community Services District Referral Steps.
  5. Contact your Service Coordinator to request a referral. Provide them with the activity name, activity code, and Cosumnes Community Services District Referral Steps sheet.

RAD Games

Cosumnes CSD's (RAD) Recreation Adventure program is hosting this free event to provide an opportunity for kids and adults with disabilities to try a variety of sports and fun activities. This will be a fun and safe event for all. Register Online

RAD Cooking Class - Beginner (18+)

Learn kitchen safety while making simple, tasty recipes! This cooking class is designed for individuals with disabilities to explore beginner-friendly, no-heat recipes and build confidence with basic kitchen skills in a fun, supportive environment. Register Online

RAD Dances

Enjoy the latest hits and greatest classics with a night of social interaction, dancing, and FUN! Don’t forget to dress on theme! Join us Fridays from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at the Wackford Community & Aquatic Complex in the Valley Oak Ballroom.

RAD Dance Team (Ages 18+)

Become a member of the RAD Dance Team - where you can express yourself through movement and learn choreography in a fusion of Jazz and Hip-Hop! Join an environment that celebrates diversity, creativity, and provides a supportive space for individuals with disabilities. Register Online

RAD Pickleball (Ages 10+)

Join us twice a month for Pickleball lessons at Wackman Park! The Cosumnes CSD RAD Program is partnering with Jolle Pickleball to teach you the basics and build on your Pickleball skills. Register Online

RAD Yoga (Ages 18+)

Relax the mind while increasing flexibility, strength, and balance in this rejuvenating stretch class. This class is designed for of all abilities who are looking for a safe and supportive place to experience the multiple benefits of yoga. Register Online 

RAD Zumba (Ages 18+)

Come learn different dance movements and basic choreography in this high-energy class through structured and free movement exercises. Register Online

RAD Open Gym (Ages 18+)

Come check out RAD for a variety of sports opportunities in the gym, including basketball, soccer, volleyball, group games, and so much more! Register Online

RAD Swim (Ages 18+)

Get a total body workout for all levels and abilities with movements that increase heart rate. Class will be conducted in the pool with a maximum depth of 4.5 ft. Register Online

RAD Fitness Club (Ages 18+)

Reach that new goal and increase your strength, flexibility, endurance, accountability, and build friendships. Register Online

RAD Fun Fridays (Ages 13+)

Individuals with all abilities can enjoy the teen center for games, movies, crafts, and so much more! Fun Fridays provide a safe and supportive night of fun and social interaction for all participants. Register Online

RAD Kids Camp (Ages 6-12)

This camp is specifically designed for kids with disabilities to enjoy a variety of recreational experiences, including games, art, crafts, physical activity, outdoor, and sensory play. We provide an encouraging and comforting environment for children to discover themselves and their interests. This camp will have a higher staff ratio to meet the needs of the children. This hands-on building class for youth with disabilities encourages creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork all while designing unique projects. Perfect for all skill levels, just bring your imagination. Register Online

RAD Kids Dance Movement (Ages 3-7)

Get ready to jump, spin, and giggle! Our RAD Kids Dance Movement class is the perfect way for little ones to explore movement, rhythm, and music in a fun and creative environment. Register Online

RAD Parent/Guardian Resource Group

Join our monthly RAD Parent/Guardian Resource Group for families raising children and adults with disabilities. Connect with other parent/guardians and learn about helpful resources in a supportive, understanding environment. Group meets second Wednesdays of the month. Register Online

RAD Theater Club offers a creative space for individuals with disabilities to engage in improv games, perform scenes, and sing songs from favorite movies. Participants will gain confidence and teamwork skills, with a live showcase at the end. Register Online
