RECREATION ADVENTURES (RAD) PROGRAM

Program Information

Cosumnes CSD provides adapted and inclusive recreation with the Recreation ADventures (RAD) program. This program provides recreation opportunities for people with disabilities through both adaptive and inclusive recreation programs.  

Participants are encouraged to explore programs in a safe and fun environment while learning a new skill, improving their physical fitness, and making new friends along the way.

Accommodations for Recreation Programming

Complete the Accommodation Form to request adaptive and inclusion services. It will be sent to our Recreation Therapist for her to assess and evaluate the best way to meet the needs for each individual participant.

RAD Open Rec (18+) - Mondays 9:30-11:30am

Come check out RAD for a variety of fun activities including arts and crafts, pool & ping pong, board games, card games, basketball, soccer, group games, and so much more! (Age 18+) Offered at the Wackford Complex, Gym.

RAD Yoga (18+) - Tuesdays 9:30-10:30am

Relax the mind while increasing flexibility, strength, and balance in this rejuvenating stretch class. This class is designed for of all abilities who are looking for a safe and supportive place to experience the multiple benefits of yoga. Offered at the Albiani Recreation Center, Lippincott.


RAD Zumba (18+) - Wednesdays 9:30-10:30am

Come learn different dance movements and basic choreography in this high energy class through structured and free movement exercises. Offered at the Albiani Recreation Center, Lippincott.  


RAD Swim Class (18+) - Thursdays 3-3:45pm

Come get an energetic workout for all levels and abilities with movements that increase heartrate and provides a total body workout. Class will be conducted in the pool with a maximum depth of 4.5 ft. Offered at the Wackford Aquatic Complex.


RAD Fitness Class (18+) - Thursdays 9:30-10:30am

Come reach that new goal and increase your strength, flexibility, endurance, accountability and build friendships. Offered at the Albiani Recreation Center, Lippincott.

   

RAD Striders (18+) - Fridays 11am-12pm

Come enjoy the fresh air and nature as we improve fitness and get our steps in for the day! Free class. Offered at Elk Grove Park


RAD Fun Fridays (13+)

Once a month, individuals with all abilities can come and enjoy the teen center for games, movies, crafts and so much more! Fun Fridays provide a safe and supportive night of fun and social interaction for all participants. Offered at the Wackford Complex, Teen Center.


RAD Punch Pass - Come Register in Person at Wackford

RAD PUNCH PASS – 10 Classes for $40. With a RAD punch pass, you can attend 10 RAD classes of your choice for $40! Come get your sweat on at Fitness club or kick it at Open Rec and learn a new sport. Sign up at Wackford Complex to receive your RAD punch pass. Includes T-shirt!

RAD Kids!

RAD Kids Art (ages 5-11) - Mondays 4-5:30pm

Children with disabilities are invited to come and express their creativity while learning art techniques through using various artistic modalities in a fun and encouraging environment. Supplies are included! Offered at the Albiani Recreation Center, Swallowtail. 


RAD Kids Discovery (ages 5-11) - Wednesdays 4-5:30pm

An after school discovery class for kids with disabilities to enjoy a variety or recreational experiences including games, arts and crafts, physical activity, outdoor and sensory play. This is an introduction class for children with disabilities to discover their personal interests with higher staff ratio. Offered at the Albiani Recreation Center, Swallowtail.

The Cosumnes Community Services District encourages and supports the participation of individuals with disabilities in all of our programs.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Cosumnes CSD wants to ensure that all individuals have access to our programs. 

If you or a family member needs reasonable accommodations to participate, please follow the steps below. Reasonable accommodations will be determined on an individual basis. Each participant will be assessed by our Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and modifications will be made when needed.

Steps to Request Inclusion Services

  1. Read the Inclusion Services FAQ’s.
  2. Register for the recreation program of your choice.
  3. Complete the Accommodation Form to request adaptive and inclusion services. It will be sent to our Recreation Therapist - Ciera Dulgar for her to assess and evaluate the best way to meet the needs for each individual             participant.
