About Us

The Cosumnes Fire Explorer Program offers high school aged students opportunities to explore potential careers in Fire and EMS through a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on training.

Joining our Explorer Program isn’t just about learning practical skills—it’s also about personal growth.  You’ll cultivate essential life skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, all while building confidence and resilience in a challenging yet rewarding environment. The best part is fostering camaraderie with your peers-- making positive connections and lifelong memories with students from neighboring high schools throughout the Elk Grove and Galt communities.

Earn Community Service Hours

As a Fire Explorer, you will make a meaningful difference in your community.  Get ready to roll up your sleeves and participate and earn community service hours.  Experience firsthand the fulfillment that comes from serving others and helping keep your community safe.

College and Career Readiness Preparation

Considering a career in the fire service?  Our Fire Explorer Program will give you a head start on your professional journey.  Gain valuable insight into the day-to day responsibilities of our first responders.

Minimum Requirements

  • 15-18 years of age (High School Juniors and Seniors )
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA is school
  • Physician completed medical/physical exam form
  • No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn!
