Civilian Ride-Along Program

The Cosumnes Fire Department Civilian Ride-Along Program provides citizens with the opportunity to experience firsthand the functions of the fire service. All persons participating in the Cosumnes Fire Department Civilian Ride-Along Program (Non-Ambulance) will adhere to the program's guidelines. A citizen who wishes to participate in the program must complete this application for review. 

Participation Requirements

• Participants must:
  • be 18 years or older
  • Complete the Civilian Ride-Along Program application (external)
  • Review and sign the CFD Civilian Ride-Along Waiver and Confidentiality form (included in the application)
  • Complete a criminal background check (background form will be emailed to you once registered)
  • be in good health and must not be suffering from any illness or injury, including cold, flu, respiratory infection, or any other potentially infectious condition on the day of the ride-along

Submitting the Civilian Ride-Along application does not guarantee approval to participate in the Cosumnes Fire Department Civilian Ride-Along Program.

Civilian Ride-Along Process: 

1. Application: 
   • To register, the participant may sign up online. (external)
2. Background Check:
   • Once we receive your online application, we will email you the Live Scan Document for completion. (The locations are on the back of the form.)  
3. Scheduling the Ride-Along:
   • Once your background check has been cleared and your application has been approved, we will send you a confirmation email with your requests (if any) with a date, time, and location.
