1. How do I request a permit release letter required by the city/county Building Department?

Permit release letters are issued upon submittal, review, and approval of new projects.  To submit plans visit the Plan Review and Inspections webpage. A permit release letter will be issued at the same time as the project permit issuance.

2. How do I request a fire inspection for my new project?

Complete and submit the Request for an Inspection form.

3. How do I pay plan review and inspection fees?

To make a credit card payment (Visa, Mastercard, or Discover), please call 916-405-7100.

To pay by check, please make checks out to Cosumnes CSD Fire Department and mail to 10573 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, CA 95624.

Please reference the invoice number or plan review number, project name, and project address when making payment.

4. How do I resubmit my plans?

5. How do I order a rapid entry device Knox Box, padlock, or key switch?

6. What if I am changing my existing driveway gate from manual to automatic?

A permit is required to install a new gate across any fire access route or to change an existing gate from manual to automatic.  Please visit the Plan Review and Inspection webpage for instructions on how to apply for a permit.

9. Do I need a fire permit to install a propane tank at my house or business?

10. Do I need a fire permit to install solar at my home or business?

For a solar installation for a business, yes.

For residential, only if the panels are ground-mounted and/or there is a battery backup.

11. How do I find out the water purveyor on a parcel of land?

12. I am required to provide a letter that my new project is in the Cosumnes Fire Department jurisdiction. What do I need to do?

You will need a "Will Serve" letter.  To request a Will Serve Letter, please complete the Application (place "Will Serve Letter needed" in the Scope of Work) and submit it to eplan@cosumnescsd.gov .  The Cosumnes Fire Department, Fire Prevention Division will follow the same basic process for Will Serve Letters as for plan review.  

Once the completed application is received, an invoice will be sent to the customer (see District's Book of Fees for current fee). The fee can be paid by check, made payable to "Cosumnes Fire Department" and mailed to 10573 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove 95624, or by credit card (call 916-405-7100).  If the project is in the Cosumnes Fire Department's jurisdiction, a letter will be generated within 5 business days and mailed to the contractor once all fees are paid.
