In an emergency, I want the Fire Department to have a key to my home, what should I do?

Homeowners living in the City of Elk Grove can place a "Knox HomeBox" on the exterior of their home.  A Knox HomeBox can securely hold a house key that can only be accessed by the Cosumnes Fire Department and the Elk Grove Police Department in an emergency.

For more information and to request a Knox HomeBox, please visit the Knox Box website.

Tips for using the Knox Box website:

1.  When searching products, choose California for the state

2.  Enter Elk Grove Police Department

3.  Select Residential Use Only – Home Boxes.

4.  Select residential Knox boxes

5.  Click view.

6.  Follow the steps to place the order.

Once the box is received and installed, complete the Request for Fire Inspection Form on the Cosumnes Fire Department’s website to schedule a fire inspector to meet you at your house and install your house key.  Note that this box is only keyed to the City of Elk Grove and is not transferrable to another police or fire department.
