Community Emergency Response Team

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program provides emergency preparedness and disaster response training to volunteers who would like to help their communities.

The Elk Grove-Galt CERT program is sponsored by the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department, in partnership with the Elk Grove City Police Department and the Galt City Police Department.

What is CERT?

CERT educates volunteers about disaster preparedness through basic disaster response skills including:

  • Fire safety
  • Light search and rescue
  • Team organization
  • Disaster medical operations

CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization, that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks.
