Cosumnes Community Services District broke ground on its ninth fire station during a ceremony on Tuesday, March 22.

The construction of Station 77 is timely due to the significant growth that has occurred in the district boundary since 2008. In particular, the fast-growing south end of Elk Grove where this station is located.

District officials say their goal is for a fire engine, fire truck, or ambulance to arrive at emergencies within 6 minutes of dispatch. Their current response times average 7 1/2 minutes. The addition of Engine 77 and Medic 77 will help them work toward that 6-minute goal.
